338 Red Christmas
December 2008. I’ve just purchased a second hand Alesis Andromeda A6. It’s the third one that enters my studio. It’s such a nice synthesizer.
As a 16 voices analog synthesizers it’s one of a kind. Programmability is huge and the sound is very easy to mix into
mixes.
While I was trying out to find good settings for it’s (digital) reverb, I had to create a short attack and decayed sound to test the
reverb I was working on.
Somehow I got caught by the test sound though, and forgot about the reverb :-) I
ended up leading the sound through an analog delay (Pigtronix Echolution)
and captured some simple sequences on the Akai MPC5000 woth this sound. One
leading to the other I finally came up with this song which has a nice
laidback groove as far as I am concerned. The bass sound comes from the Cwejman
S1 MK2 modular, drums from the MPC, there are some nice Mellotron
samples in it at the end (Boys Choir and Flute). The Waldorf Blofeld is doing
all the pads, in the middle part you can hear that typical PPG sound for a
brief
moment, and the twickling sound after the “break” comes from the Memorymoog.
